I would like to apologize for my self indulgent social commentary but I recently saw a TV commercial for Dell laptops and it struck me as sad or disappointing, I am not sure which. The commercial opened with the voice-over saying, “Your screen is your window to the world.” As a Realtor, who gets to live and work in a beautiful seaside community, I sometimes forget how lucky I truly am. Living in New England, I am close the ocean, lakes, mountains, farm land, industry and metropolitan cities that teem with vibrant culture and art.
If, as Dell says, my laptop screen is the window to the world; there is much I am missing out on.
We are all very lucky to live in this part of the country. While some may not get the same joy, I do from a wintry blizzard or a rainy summer thunderstorm, we all get to experience all mother nature has to offer. It is also not just the craggy New England landscapes for which we should be grateful. It is also the people that make up this unique part of the world. It is our friends, family, co-workers and neighbors that make getting out from behind a glowing screen so worth it.
